GE Canada and StandardAero are partnering to build a $50 million aircraft engine research and technology development facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba, according to Market News Publishing from AMT The Association for Manufacturing Technology. The work force at the facility is projected to grow to 50 employees in five years, and eventually up to 200.

"GE continues to invest and grow our presence in Canada," said Elyse Allan, president and CEO of GE Canada. "The new test facility will expand our capabilities and industrial footprint in the country."

StandardAero will operate the facility, to be located on land leased by the Winnipeg Airport Authority. The site will include test cell capabilities for engines and can accommodate high-performance military jet engines. It will also have wind generator, ingestion, and icing certification-testing capabilities.
